After I had completed my education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Maastricht , we quickly left for my husband's work abroad. Over the next 20 years, we have enjoyed living in Morocco, Ghana, Suriname, Bangladesh, South Africa, and Thailand. There, I mainly engaged in painting, making clothes, and voluntary work such as teaching art.

 

During our last placement in Bangkok I discovered Himapan Thailand, where courses are given in painting lotus leaves and lacquerware (@lacquerwarebymonique). Over the past 3 1/2 years I have followed several courses at Himapan. The warm and positive feeling I get when I am doing this is something I would like to share with you through my workshops.
